Honeycomb Lane is a real estate consulting business providing solutions for the changing needs of aging homeowners and their families. Areas of specialty include downsizing, multi-generational living, aging in place and universal design.
By the year 2035, 1 of 3 households in Connecticut will be headed by someone aged 65 or older. Yet current housing stock lacks features critical to the needs of this aging population. AARP reports the majority of homeowners prefer to age in their own homes, but many admit their current home might not be suitable. Honeycomb Lane is addressing these needs in multiple ways.
First, we work with licensed real estate agents who hold SRES® designation. Seniors Real Estate Specialists® are REALTORS® qualified to address the needs of home buyers and sellers age 50+. We also have established relationships with industry professionals such as contractors, vendors, financial and legal professionals, and many other industry related services such as downsizing, de-cluttering and moving pros.
Understanding the community at large may not be familiar with important aspects of aging in place, nor the resources available to them, we are currently building a suite of educational products, including community educational programs and online educational videos. We also develop and distribute educational content via our website and multiple social media channels.
And finally, we make strategic investments in our communities by buying and renovating homes with key features that allow for aging-in-place. Depending on the home, modifications could include: a full master bedroom and bathroom on the main floor, a laundry area on the main floor, open floor plans and wider hallways, accessible bathrooms including walk-in showers and reinforced walls (for grab bars), easy grab handles and fixtures, conversions for energy efficiency, and potential living space for in-laws, multi-generational living or live in care.
At Honeycomb Lane, we understand that homes carry with them years of memories. We are committed to respecting memories of past owners, as we create space for new memories to be formed.
